Watching this about made my day. This is the University of Pennsylvania, but we’ve got colleges in Oregon that have good Mechanical Engineering departments.
Payscale.com says that, fresh out of college, a Mechanical Engineer can expect a solid $50,000 salary from working the field in the Portland area. After 10 years, that jumps to around $80,000, and keeps climbing.
$50,000 a year.
For doing this. I know somebody whose dad is a Mechanical Engineer, making a solid $300,000. He’s in his 50s. And he’ll live for 30 or 40 more with an empty nest.
Edit: I’m looking in to talking to the folks behind this project, and will update this post as soon as they get back to me.
